Energy & Environmental Science & Technology Intern June 2019 – August 2019
• Developed a method to synchronize sporulation in S. mesophilum, developing/conducting a DPA assay
• Compared the effect of Rare Earth Elements (REE) on S. mesophilum and C. hungatei cultures, while testing different growth conditions for whether they affect the impact of lanthanide addition.
• Gas chromatography, lyophilization, confocal microscopy, anaerobic inoculation, fluorimetry, ICP-AES.
Environmental Independent Study
Lab Research Student Under the Mentorship of Dr. Chester Zarnoch February 2019 – Present
• Examining the effect of oyster density and site across a gradient in Jamaica bay on invertebrate diversity, while looking at how inverts effect sediment “N” cycling.
• Regressions, One way-two way ANOVA of benthic data, and data comparison with other publications.

• Tested water quality, organism identification and behavioral observation, leading lab tours, maintenance
• Assisted the Citizen’s Water Quality Testing Program with testing water samples, and bacterial culturing
Biochemistry Independent Study Lab Research Student Under the Mentorship of Dr. Jean Gaffney August 2017 – January 2019
• Studied how changes in the environment of Chlopsid eel fluorescent protein affect the biofluorescence, change intensity and shift the spectrum, and denature the bilirubin upon which the protein is dependent.
• Worked on growing E. coli cultures, induction, gel electrophoresis, excitation, emission, serial dilution, preparing proper concentrations and volumes of solutions to be used.
