Senior Radar Operator and Battalion Property Manager Apr 2004 – July 2010
United States Army, Fort Polk, LA (Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom)
Earned the distinction of Honor Graduate (salutatorian) after completing Fire Finder Radar School with a cumulative average of 98.2/100. Satisfied the requirements to operate with a Secret clearance.
Awarded the senior position on the radar team just weeks after arriving to the unit, impressing leaders with in-depth knowledge of radar operations, a relentless work ethic, and exemplary performance in training scenarios. Received a waiver for early promotion by the command team after being recognized by the Joint Readiness Training Center as our unit’s “hero of the battlefield,” one of three selected from a battalion of four hundred.
Provided humanitarian relief in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, participating in Quick Reactionary Force rescue and survey operations. Distributed aid to local residents.
Traveled to Afghanistan with—and was responsible for—military equipment worth over 300 million dollars. Upon arriving in country, ran day-to-day operations of the Q-36 radar, trained and managed a team of 4 personnel, ensuring their well-being and adherence to military regulation.
Selected as Battalion Property Manager, charged with the renovation and upkeep of Battalion property, which included 18 buildings, a motor pool, and parade ground. Spearheaded a large-scale survey of the unit’s living quarters and provided guidance to the Battalion Commander on the best method to bring them up to Division standard. Remained in this role when the unit deployed to Iraq, managing local day-laborers and performing minor repairs and security upgrades around the base.
Recognitions include two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, the Good Conduct Medal and a Meritorious Unit Commendation
