I am interested in the part time posted position of receptionist While I have never worked in the optical industry, I do have many years of customer service experience and am good at greeting customers and speaking on the telephone, as well as coordinating colors and shapes. I am comfortable with word processing and web authoring software, have used spreadsheets, and believe that I could easily learn to use whatever particular software that you use in your office. Seeking a position where I will greet and interact with customers face to face and over the phone and utilize my many years of customer service experience.

September 2017 through October 2018: worked part time at the gun shop/indoor range Continental Arms in Timonium, MD 21093 ------------) mostly at the indoor range, but also in sales. You can contact Sandra Howdyshell there, she and her husband own the business, and she can provide a reference for me.

1993 to 2017: Owned and operated a retail store, Stitches Etc Inc. (trade name Stitches Etc Home Center), with my husband where we sold, installed, serviced and repaired high end European kitchen appliances and vacuums, sewing machines and ancillary products. I maintained our web site; scheduled classes and events, installations and service calls; designed and self published quilt and sewing patterns. I provided technical assistance over the phone and in person for our customers, performed technical work associated with maintenance and repair of home sewing machine equipment, and managed and directed the activities of our employees. I used objective based teaching methods to develop lesson plans and taught sewing, quilting, and cooking classes. I talked with customers both over the phone and in person and determined what they needed, offered solutions to their problems and identified which of our products would help them. After closing the sale, I followed up with the customers to make sure that they were having a positive experience with their new equipment, and encouraged them to come back and to refer others to our store. I was also responsible for filing with holding and tax reports, paying bills, and payroll.

1982-1993 Program Manager/Design Engineer: Worked in the Defense Industry an as engineer responsible for Product Development and Project Management. Supervised technical personnel, wrote technical proposals and prepared cost estimates. Developed a patent for a smoke generator system for fire fighting training.

1976-1980 Active Duty US Army: Airborne School, Chemical Officer Basic, Tactical Intelligence Officer Basic Course. Project Officer in Research and Development: analyzed technical data, performed cost and operation effectiveness analyses, maintained liaison with material developers and other DOD agencies. Training manager/instructor: responsible for development of programs of instruction for both US and foreign military students, supervised 20 enlisted personnel.
