As a TRAINED GRADUATE TEACHER (TGT), I was entitled to teach English and Social Science to grades 6th, 7th and 8th. It was very enhancing experience for sharpening my skills as an instructor, as it helped me to build strong interpersonal skills like public speaking, interaction with a large group of students, and a great rapport with my students.
As a full time teacher at a reputed school, I was not only responsible for imparting education through different instructional methods like lecture method, discussion method, project- based learning, student assessment method, formative assessment process, direct instruction and effective questioning and student analysis methods but also monitoring and aiding the overall moral, personal and behavioral growth of students, with suitable remedial methods as and when needed.
I was responsible for administering weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annual assignments and exams to different classes, each of which complied of 50-60 students. It included setting up question papers from within the prescribed syllabus, regular assignments related to the taught syllabus, evaluation of the same and compilation and recording of the result for individual students and also keeping a track of each student's performance and participation in the classroom activities, and discussing with the principal and the parents and jointly carving out a way for further improvement of each student.
From time to time, I was also assigned with the responsibility of preparing the students for interschool, interstate and international level competitions like declamation, elocution, extempore, plays and debates.
