TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: RE: Assistant designer position
I am writing this to apply for the position of assistant designer, advertised on the career website. Through my experiences in the industry, I find that I am a perfect candidate of the design position.
I currently work for Wild Horses LLC, where I am the Production Coordinator in the junior dress division. At Wild Horses, I have gotten a lot of experience working with overseas contractors and how the design process works from start to finish. I work with the design team to team to develop and approve fabrics and trims. twice a week, I attend fittings for fit samples and production samples sent by our overseas and domestic factories. I also complete tech packs and issue fit comments to our factories to insure proper fit and construction in a timely matter. I directly communicate with the factories to ensure that they stay on schedule with production. I also send out any photo, PP, and TOP samples to customer as needed. From this position I have gotten an in-depth understanding on garment constructions and trend forecasting due to working so closely with production and the designer.
When I worked at Instant Figure, I was the production assistant/quality control specialist. Instant figure is a domestic brand; which has given me hands on experience with how the manufacturing process works. At Instant Figure, I was in charge of writing all specs sheets, creating the tech pack, and oversee all quality of all incoming garments. I also attended on fitting session and give fit suggestions. I worked directly contractors to make sure that all garment construction and quality is met by visiting their factories. I updated CADs through my experience technical designing for Instant Figure. Through this experience, I have become an expert with excel and become more advanced in Photoshop and illustrator. I have also learned how to manage my time and how pay attention to detail.
I received three certificates in Fashion design in June 2017 and I will be receiving my final certificate June 2018. Through my college courses, I undertook several design classes where I got hands on experience with the design process; starting with inspiration boards, then sketching and merchandizing full lines to pattern drafting and constructing the garments, and finally putting a tech pack together. I also undertook an internship with Dragon crowd garments. I was doing anything from helping with finishing up CADs to helping research trends. From both my internship and my design classes, I have become very organized and detail oriented. I have also acquired excellent written and verbal communication skills. I have a flair for color and textures and a great understanding of trends and most fabrics.
I am passionate about fashion, clothes, fabrics, and making people feel confident and loving themselves. I believe my experience at Wild Horses, instant figure, Dragon Crowd and from my college degree I have provided, I have the necessary skills to be an excellent assistant designer Thank you for your time, And I look forward to meeting you and discussing the position with you further.
