Key activities & responsibilities:
¥ To develop a technical manual to help facilitate teaching technical design. The goal of this endeavor was to bring parity to teaching, learning and assessment of technical design across all of Pearl’s campuses. This manual consists of step-by-step instructions for the Drafting, Pattern Making and Garment Construction on various modules;
¥ To conduct regular faculty development programs in the various centers;
¥ To conduct classes for UGFD in the area of Women’s wear, Men’s Wear, Kids Wear, Sports Wear, Indian Wear (Occasional wear) and Evening Wear.
¥ To serve as a fulltime mentor in Technical Design (Pattern Making and Garment Construction) for MA students, UGFD Level 3 and PGFD for final Design Collection;
¥ To serve as selection committee member for student Recruitment.

I held various positions at NIFT over the course of my tenure including Chair of the Department of Fashion Design (FD), Fashion Design and Clothing Technology (FDCT), Chair of the Department of Leather Garment Design & Technology (LGDT). I have created FDCT and LGDT departments.

Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF)provides technical expertise regarding textiles, uniforms and protective clothing for programs managed by Naval Supply Systems Command and Navy Exchange Service Command, as well as other Navy Commands, military services and government agencies. The workforce, comprised mainly of clothing and textile subject matter experts, uniquely qualified to be Navy’s primary developer of uniforms, protective clothing, and related equipment. Key responsibilities include:

¥ To develop the new body measurement chart. This was done using the latest Anthropometric survey, and analysis of body measurements available in the commercial market and those of Navy personnel
¥ Develop new generation of patterns to provide an updated fit for the contemporary measurements. I developed a prediction chart based on this analysis
¥ Prepare drafting of patterns and draping for desire fit to make sure the concept of fit is taken into consideration while developing and finalizing the patterns in the Gerber Accumark V10
¥ Prototyping of new styles, and validating fit against mannequins and technical models. Develop basic grading rules of the fit/standard body measurements in the Gerber Accumark V10
¥ To create Stitch and Seams tables, finished table measurements for new styles and communicate with the vendors
¥ Travel regularly to the manufacturing place in order to maintain the standard of the product. Travel to off site and conduct wear test of sailors and oversee the logistic of product delivery
¥ Fix fit issues on pre-existing styles/patterns with known problems and interpret issues and resolve the problem area. Resolve the master production problems through dimensional issues with table of measurements.

Key results:
¥ Created skirts and slacks which has now replaced three prior versions of each. This has significantly decreased the amount of required inventory and in the long term will substantially decrease manufacturing costs

¥ Supervising all aspects of the manufacture and distribution of the product including: construction and assembly, sampling and quality assurance, receipt and inspection of imported products, and product distribution.
¥ Leading the prototyping efforts: This includes developing the preliminary pattern and grading; identifying raw material, trim and notion; developing a prototype and the technical specifications, which take the cutting and construction into account
¥ Leading the coordination efforts with overseas vendors. This includes developing and providing prototypes, sketches, technical specifications to the vendors and ensuring the vendors meet the timelines

Quality assurance for both in-house and overseas production. This involves conducting fit sessions, evaluating & approving pre-production samples and addressing issues
¥ Developing technical standards for the organization. This includes technical manuals and guidelines, product specifications, quality standards, as well as standards related to logistics such as packaging and labeling, charge back, and consignment
¥ Conducting on site visits to evaluate production, machinery, and quality control processes at both in-house and overseas vendor facilities. Imparting training and make recommendations as necessary with the goal of achieving the highest possible quality standard
