Hobbies and Interests
Student Journalism – I was a writer for Exeposé, Exeter University’s student newspaper. I had several articles published in several sections of the newspaper, including Features, Arts and Literature, and Comment, both online and in print. I also had a specific column in the Lifestyle section called ‘Trends I Hate’ which I submitted an article for every other week. I very much enjoyed answering content calls and having my work published. In addition, I gained editing and proofing experience, and knowledge of how to use WordPress, as well as experience of working towards a deadline.
Student TV – I was involved in XTV, Exeter University’s student TV station. With XTV, I acted in several sketches and short films, as well as writing and creating my own sketches. In addition, I was a producer for Punchline, XTV’s comedy sketch show, which enabled me to produce, write and fully create my own content, as well as helping a team of others do the same. I really enjoyed creating content for XTV, whether it be through writing, acting, directing or editing.
Student Radio – I involved in Xpression FM, Exeter University’s student radio station. I was a member of both their News Team (meaning I made news bulletins and featured on regularly on News Hour, their news show) and I produced and co-hosted my own radio show called SoundBITES. It was a self-described ‘tunes and trivia’ show that broadcasted from November 2017-March 2019. Having my own radio show was a very rewarding experience, as it meant I was able to create the kind of engaging and creative content I wanted to. In addition, it enabled me to get trained in operating a radio desk.
