Dear Prospective Employer,

I hope this letter finds you well, and thank you for taking the time to read it. Working independently or alongside a team, my self-starter attitude is something I pride myself on. Resplendent in my work ethics and humble in my demeanor, I guarantee to excel as your associate.
I graduated from the University of Oregon with honors in Art & Architectural history, with a focus in Contemporary Western Art and a subfield in Architectural History. I minored in Italian, Spanish, and Art Administration. Following my Bachelor’s, I went on to the University of California, Berkeley, where I have recently completed a Master’s of Art History & Design Studies. My education has always been transdisciplinary, bridging across knowledge of visual arts, the humanities, urbanism, and design.
With a strong background in administrative and fine arts, I am confident that I would be a successful part of your team. Having worked for the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (JSMA) as a curatorial and administrative intern, I have been exposed to a number of aspects that require immaculate detail and planning. I collaborated directly with the curator of Western Art, and the executive director of the JSMA. My internship included: conducting research for object files, provenance research, collections care, and exhibition production (often with loans from private collections), correspondences with national artists, and other museums. In addition, I assisted in projects with prospective collectors and loaners for our Master Works on Loan exhibition series. Working as a team with the head curator, I planned her project for the renovations of the Western European gallery. I was assigned the task of managing the project through to its realization, securing a smooth flow of information between her and clients, and maintaining budgets for the new exhibition meticulously and in timely fashion. Through this internship, I gained substantial curatorial experience as well as a deep knowledge of the inner workings in all related administrative activities—but more importantly, I learned how to interact in a refined and gregarious manner.
For three years, I worked as an administrative assistant to the head of the School of Architecture at the University of Oregon. I assisted in daily organization tasks, international travel management, guest relations, architectural events and exhibitions, and seminar programming in a fast-paced and high volume environment. It was through this job that I became skilled in all Microsoft Office programs, Photoshop, and website design and programming. It was also through this job where I had to develop the skills to utilize independent judgment in high- pressure situations.

At the University of California, Berkeley, I have maintained my position as a Graduate Student Instructor for two prominent professors in both Art History and American Studies. As an instructor, I prepared lesson plans and readings that were hevaily centered around 19th-20th century American art and architecture.

In addition, I have a unique international background and have lived in several countries across Europe, Central and South America. I am fluent in English and Italian, and am advanced in Spanish. My extensive cross-cultural background makes it easier for me to work successfully with people of all nationalities.

I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to further disucss my candidacy. If awarded this position, I would make myself immediately available to you. It is with my every intention to bring forward a fervent dedication this role, as your very warm hearted and devoted associate. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
All the best,
Michelle Bynum
