I am a highly enthusiastic student who is capable of completing any job handed to me. When I pursue something I go for it wholeheartedly and give it everything I have, giving me a reputation to be known as passionate in everything I do. This passion has lead to me having a really high drive for completing tasks and in turn become a hard worker. In every area of my life, I have worked hard to achieve the targets that needed to be met and I have always strived to achieve even higher than the goal set out. I have been a member of many clubs and societies such as swimming, dance, and acting allowing me to socialise with others and develop great team working skills, which I believe would make me very suitable for a job in if not any, various fields. I have also done voluntary activities such as work in hospitals both abroad and in the UK and I am planning to spend a summer teaching English abroad, as I love going out of my way to help others. I am also very much involved in my community and due to this I have a project which I am working on that aims to not only reduce knife crime rates in the UK, but to combat it altogether. In my spare time, I work on and have a blog in which I write about current affairs and share some of my poetry.

WORK EXPERIENCE/VOLUNTEERING:
GENESIS NURSERY (September 2013)
This was my first look at work in the real world and I took on work as a nursery assistant who took care of children from the age of 2-3 years old, which gave me the chance to develop my team working skills as I had to work closely in a team with other staff. It was a big responsibility taking care of young children and I developed great communication skills with both the children, the other staff and the parents of the children as it is impossible to look after children without guidance from all three of these figures.
In this role, I had to ensure the children came in, did their required work for the day, this included drawing and writing to improve their motor skills. I also had to ensure they were safe during their playtime and had gone down for naps at the required time. This work experience taught me that a career involving caring for others isn’t easy at all but it allowed me to clarify that I would love to work in a field in which I can do so.

ST JOSEPH’S HOSPITAL GREEN BAY (JUNE 2014)
I was given a really great opportunity to work as a Biomedical Scientist in a laboratory for two weeks in the United States of America. This was my first hospital work experience and it allowed me to make a decision on my undergraduate degree, which is in Biomedical Sciences. During my stay here, I assisted the scientists and the nurses, drawing blood and analyzing it for the first couple of days. I was then able to rotate around the laboratory and analyse stool and urine samples, the laboratory work experience ended in the cytology laboratory where cells were studied. It was here I was able to also witness a surgery.
In this role, I realised the importance of health care globally. I was able to see what a career in the health industry would entail. I learnt punctuality and sacrifice during my time here, as I would come in at 9 and leave at 6 or 7 although my shift would end at 5 each day. My team working skills improved once again as I had to communicate with nurses and other biomedical scientists to ensure that the correct patient samples were being used and that samples were being checked at the correct time frame. It allowed me to see that jobs in healthcare require great team work as all the staff in the hospital from every department must work together to ensure that a life is saved.
