Duties: Developed a four day two hour training program to help enhance direct care staff�s understanding of the hardships clients coming from a domestic violence home might endure. Topics of these trainings included understanding the impact domestic violence has on children, the impact trauma has on children�s brain development, resilience, increasing empathy for others, communication skills, attachment theory, parenting styles, building stronger parent-child relationships, increasing self-esteem, disciplining options, the importance of modeling, understanding anger as a secondary emotion, and a discussion of microaggression. I have also developed a one day training that focused on the impact of domestic violence has on children and their development.

Presenting issues included depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar, dementia, transitioning issues related to the nursing facility, health related issues with Parkinson and Multiple Sclerosis, traumatic brain injuries, and end of life issues. Duties: Provided individual and family counseling to children, adolescents, parents, and foster parents. Presenting issues included behavioral problems, anxiety problems, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Adjustment Disorders, Sexual Abuse, and other issues related to being in foster care. I worked closely with the Department of Human Services in facilitating the needs of children/adolescents in foster care. Completed full intakes, which included treatment planning, diagnosing, and determining a need for services. Provided psychological evaluations to children and adolescents to assist in the development of treatment planning. Lastly, once a week I worked at a Juvenile Detention Center providing risk assessments to juveniles in the justice system. This involved interviewing juveniles who have recently entered the system and screen for a risk of harm to themselves, others, and determined whether they meet criteria for a DSM Diagnosis and/or refer for further psychological testing.

Duties: Provided psychological evaluations to adolescents in custody with the Office of Juvenile Affairs to determine out of home placement. The standard battery of tests included: Bender-Gestalt, House-Tree-Person, Family-Kinetic, Mini-Mental State Exam, WRAT, WASI, Rotter Incomplete Sentences, MINI-KID, Clinical Review, and MMPI-A. If the adolescent was a sex offender they were given the Sexual Behavior Inventory. If the adolescent was a Youthful Offender they would also be given the Rorschach. Other duties included Suicidal Risk Assessments and Intellectual assessments (WAIS-III or WISC-III, Vindland-2). These assessments were administered at County Jails, Juvenile Detention Centers, Level E Group Homes, and regional Office of Juvenile Affairs. I then interpreted the results and wrote up a comprehensive report.

Assisted clients in filing Emergency Protective Orders and was on call periodically to help run the shelter. Client goals varied from empowerment, increase self-esteem, identifying healthy/unhealthy relationships, communication skills, and problem solving strategies
