RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg, PA 05/2016 09/2016
Department of Biology
Advisor: Joshua Loomis, PhD
Designed and facilitated the evaluation of a metabolic supplement for soil microbes as a potential replacement for conventional fertilizer in agricultural systems in third-world countries. Phase 1 of this project indicated a potential benefit to rice crops, so future work will focus on rice and other cereal grains which serve as staple food crops in developing nations.

Northampton Community College, Bethlehem, PA 09/2016 12/ 2016
Department of Biology
Advisor: Karen Klein, PhD
Investigated the effects of conventional agricultural tillage versus no-till field management systems on aggregate stability.

Northampton Community College, Bethlehem, PA 08/2015 04/2016
Department of Biology
Advisor: Kathleen Kresge, PhD
Self-initiated and executed project to analyze over-the-counter probiotic supplements for the presence of live bacteria as indicated on product labeling. Present bacteria were then subjected to a low pH environment to determine whether they can withstand the acidic conditions of the human intestinal tract.

Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ 06/2015 07/2015
Center for Discreet Math and Theoretical Computer Science (DIMACS)
Advisor: Nina Fefferman, PhD
Served as a guest researcher assisting with an exhaustive literature search to determine which parameters of climate change and their effects on vector-borne disease transmission have been well-researched and mathematically modeled, and which are in need of further study; publication forthcoming.

Northampton Community College, Bethlehem, PA 01/2014 05/2015
Department of Biology
Advisor: Kathleen Kresge, PhD
Collaborated with a fellow student to assess the presence of bacteria in ground beef, ground pork and ground chicken kept under refrigeration, at room temperature and at 37oC.

Northampton Community College, Bethlehem, PA 01/2015 04/2015
Department of Chemistry
Advisor: Professor William Magilton, III
Collaborated with eight other students on the synthesis and enzymatic assay of mixed ligand complexes for superoxide dismutase mimetics.
