EXPERIENCE:

• 2017 to Present – Member & Community Engagement Manager – Swedish American Museum:
o Responsibilities: membership, volunteers, donations, office management, and community engagement.
o Other tasks include being a team player and being able to help out in all areas of the museum including the Brunk Children’s Museum of Immigration.
o Accomplishments: I have played a key role in restructuring admission and membership, which had remained unchanged for 20 years. I have helped install exhibits. I have worked with hundreds of volunteers, and helped run events of all kinds.

• 2013 to 2017 – Assistant Manager & Book Buyer - Powell’s Books Chicago:
o Responsibilities include all aspects of customer service (locating books, recommendations, ordering, shipping, etc), managing work flow, shelving, lifting & carrying heavy objects, putting acetate covers on the nicer books (processing), answering the phone, cataloging books, and any other tasks relevant to working in a bookstore.
o Assistant Manager also means that I offer guidance to my fellow staff, and that organization and orderliness are important parts of my job.
o Accomplishments: I singlehandedly created a Young Adult section, separate from the Childrens section.


• 2012 to 2014 (’06-’10 as well) - Office Manager & Receptionist – MetroPro Realty:
o Responded to potential clients over the phone and in person, acquiring customer service experience;
o Duties included fliers, brochure and ad graphic design, ordering ads and materials, filing, faxing, copying, typing spreadsheets and mailing lists and various office work that requires attention to detail and the ability to work under time pressure;
o Acquired experience with current software and programs.


• 2012 & 2013 (Winter Seasonal) - Sales & Promotion – The Swedish American Museum, Chicago:
o Seasonal sales position at The Christkindlmarket Chicago in Daley Plaza;
o Duties included customer service in a busy environment, attention to detail, keeping track of sales and making deposits, and promotion of the museum.

• 2012 (Winter-Spring) - Children’s Services Student Intern – Cote Saint-Luc Public Library, Montreal, QC:
o Leading a weekly “Hippity-Hop” Program (songs & story time for children ages 0-2yrs);
o Creating and leading activities during Library Camp (ages 8-12yrs);
o Children’s reference & reader’s advisor;
o Young adult fantasy fiction collections work, young adult paperback collections work, processing, editing catalog information, and shelving.



VOLUNTEERING:

• 2019 – Glen Ellyn Historical Society - Flood – disaster relief.
• 2013 - The Shedd Aquarium, Research and Evaluation Department - data collection, interacting with visitors, data entry, and assisting in other tasks as needed.

• 2005-2013 - The Swedish American Museum, Chicago- organizing their library, cataloguing, and assisting with new exhibits, giftshop, and Daley Plaza Christkindlemarket.

• 2009 - The National Archives in London - organizing and cataloguing historical documents. Preparation for electronic catalogue. I learned dedication and useful organizational skills
