Work Experience

Pampasazone Argentine Restaurant January 2019-Present
Server Hourly Pay: 11
Supervisor: Guillermo Ribulatta Hours per week: 20

Completes general tasks required of a server, such as taking orders and bringing food to tables. Spanish fluency utilized daily, as 50% of the clientele are Spanish-speakers, and the cooks do not speak English. Additionally, lack of a full-time manager necessitates that I do other tasks, including, but not limited to, handling issues with customers, keeping track of inventory, and counting the money in the register on nights when I close.

Washington Office on Latin America Summer 2019
Intern Unpaid
Supervisor: Dr. Jo-Marie Burt

After taking a course with Dr. Burt in Fall 2018, she offered me an internship position as her assistant in Summer 2019. A senior fellow at the Washington Office on Latin America, she invited me to help her with her Trial-monitoring project in Guatemala, in which she reports on developments in the trials against military officers accused of war crimes and human rights abuses committed during the countrys internal armed conflict. General tasks included translating sections of her previous articles from English-Spanish, researching information on 20 years worth of trials, finding qualified academics and professionals to speak at a forum, and compiling her previous articles for the International Justice Monitor into Microsoft Word documents organized by trial.

I also traveled to Guatemala with Dr. Burt from the 17th to 20th of June 2019 to sit in on meetings between survivors groups, human rights advocates, and prosecutors on how to organize to prevent a comprehensive amnesty bill from passing through the national legislature. During the three days I was there, I assisted in general event-planning activities and logistical support.

George Mason University August 2018-August 2019
Research Assistant Hourly Pay: 12
Supervisor: Dr. Jacqueline Larssen-Serigos

After taking a linguistics course with Dr. Serigos in Spring 2018, she offered me a position as her research assistant the following semester. The project was a quantitative analysis of the perceptions in Argentina media towards the usage of Anglicisms (words that come from English) in Spanish. I was tasked with analyzing over 200 Spanish-language articles in Argentine newspapers, identifying all Anglicisms in the article, and categorizing the opinion(s) expressed towards the words, compiling all the information in Microsoft Excel. We are currently writing a draft of the project to submit to an academic journal, and by the end of August 2019, I will have written the methodology and results sections to said draft.

Our project was accepted to present at the International Linguistic Associations 64th Annual Conference in Buenos Aires, and we both travelled there at the end of May 2019 to share our findings.

Hibernian Nephrology Group Doctors office Summers of 2014-2018

When the office manager was not present, I would file insurance claims and manage money.
