Work experience

UH Manoa Dr. Rajesh Jha Lab-Animal Nutrition Agriculture Department Building 2018-ended:
I worked as a short assignment in prepping samples to be sent out for enzyme testing by grinding the samples, measuring samples and cleaning equipment such as the grinder etc.

Hilton Hawaiian Village Wild Life Attendant 2017-current:
I work in the hotel’s wild life department taking care of their 6 exotic parrots, fish ponds, and freshwater turtles. I provide husbandry, diet prep, medical care, and training

John A Burns School of Medicine (University of Hawaii) Vivarium 2015-current:
Recently for the past several years off and on I have been an Intern/Volunteer at JABSOM working in the Vivarium. I have helped assist with basic medical checkups, nail trims, and record keeping of the mice and rats. I have also done medical diagnostic tests on their feces, blood, and hair etc. I learned to give IP and SQ injections, As well as intra cardio blood draws IC, cheek bleeds and I even learned how to intubate mice for heart surgery. I have also learned about aspics/ sanitation of a research facility and cage changes. I even gave mice ear tag punches and temporary tattoos. I have also learned about mice heart surgery.

Shrimp Improvement Systems Hawaii LLC Spring 2017:
I was an assistant technician for their Oahu Facility providing shrimp husbandry, shrimp restraint, water quality testing and juvenile shrimp care. I also assisted a little with the Artificial insemination process for shrimp.
Abercrombie and Fitch Winter Season 2017-2018:
I was a stock clerk for the seasonal season providing inventory services of stock, folding, and prepping merchandise. I also would help out at the cash register if needed.

PetSmart 2016-2017:
I was a part-time bather bathing and providing other dog grooming services.

Crazy Shirts 2012-2017:
I was a Sales Associate where I assisted customers, made deposits, kept inventory and basic store cleaning
WWC aquaculture fish feeding volunteer spring 2015:
I was a fish feeding volunteer at school to fulfill volunteer hours for class and learn even more about fish care. I feed the fish and did water quality test that use probes to test the water's saturation (PPT), oxygen (o2), PH (ppm), and temperature (c).

Pacific Primate Sanctuary (June 27-December 18 2014):
I was an intern at the sanctuary for six months working with Marmosets, Tamarins, Capuchins and Spider monkeys. I assisted in basic husbandry, diet prep, diet distribution, making med dosages, med preparations, and distribution. I am also proficient in basic emergency care from assisting in medical emergencies to basic forms of catching, and restraint. I am also proficient in SOAP note record keeping, animal care plans, and hospice care. I have the ability to give subcutaneous injections, muscular injections and to give a basic physical. I also did some behavioral conditioning training such as teaching some monkeys to drink from a non-needle cc syringe and target training.
Sea Life Park Hawaii, bird rehabs volunteer spring 2014:
I volunteered twice a week at Sea Life Park's seabird rehab. I assisted with food prep, cleaning, basic care, and release of rehab seabirds that are receiving treatment at sea Life Park.

Honolulu Zoo 2012-2013:
I was a volunteer at the Honolulu Keiki zoo/ petting zoo where I assisted the keepers with the many animals of the petting zoo. I cleaned enclosures, prepared diets and even participated in training sessions with some of the animals.

Gulf World Marine Park 2013:
I was the avian department intern at Gulf World Marine Park during the winter session from Jan. 18 to April 18, 2013. During the internship, I assisted in preparing the diets, cleaning, and medical checkups. I
also helped in training sessions as well as the daily shows. I even had the opportunity to be a part of the trainer for the day program. This entailed me taking the trainer for the day around the avian department introducing them to all the birds and other animals in the department. There was also a special painting session with Sherman a Macaw and doing conditioned behaviors with an African Pie Crow named Russell.

Monterey Bay Aquarium 2012:
I was an intern at the aquarium where I helped care for the aquariums penguins and other seabirds. My responsibilities included food prep, feeding, cleaning, record keeping, I assisted in the basic care of these amazing creatures. As an intern, I also completed an observation project on one of the penguins and built a new enrichment item for the Aquarium's avian department.

Hilo Zoo 2010/2011:
I was in charge of handling and the caring of the animals in the Hilo Petting Zoo during petting zoo hours. I was able to work with a variety of animals from small guinea pigs to a Hawaiian hawk named Kapono.

Sea Life Park, Honolulu Hawaii 2011:
I was an intern in the training department with the dolphins, sea lions, and penguins. I worked in fish prep 2 to 3 days a week preparing the parks marine life meals. I assisted in animal husbandry and feedings for the dolphins, sea lions, and penguins. As an intern, I also had to participate in weekly lectures on animal care, sanitation, and training. I had to be able to implement all that we learned during the internship while on the job.

Sea Life Park, Honolulu Hawaii 2010:
I was a part of the education staff, which was all about helping our parks visitors with information. I gave lectures on many of the animals at the park and the oceans of the world. I also assisted in research projects and helped with the summer camp.

Waikiki Aquarium 2006- 2007:
I was a volunteer at the aquarium. I gave lectures on a variety of marine life and was in charge of the touch pool. Hours: 3 hours twice a week for 1 1⁄2 years YMCA lifeguard & swim instructor: During part of my high school years I was a lifeguard at the YMCA in Ridgewood, New Jersey and was also a volunteer swim instructor.

Graduated December 2011 from University of Hawaii. My degree is BA in Performing Arts.

I have recently graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Windward Community college, earning an AS. In Veterinary technology and a certificate in Vet Assisting
