Long Term Goal – I would like to make a significant contribution in Performing Arts as a Director, Actress and Writer. I love expressing my creative side by directing and authoring meaningful scripts and by performing in productions as well. I have extensive experience in all of these areas.
Short Term Goal – Even though the world of Performing Arts is currently on hold due to the COVID virus, I would like to find a position that could be a steppingstone toward the direction of my longer-term goals.
High School Experience – I graduated from Marcos de Niza High School, a magnet school for Performing Arts with a 4.3 GPA and graduated in the top three percent of my class. Not only did I learn acting, I learned stage management, sound design, makeup artistry and I wrote and directed my first short play. Some highlights from high school include:
• The 2017 Gammage Award winner for Leading Actress in a Musical and Jimmy Award nominee in New York
• Four school productions at Marcos de Niza (More than Meets the Eye, Legally Blonde, Steel Magnolias, Cinderella)
• NYA award for Best Leading Actress in a Play for Steel Magnolias
• NYA nominee for best leading actress in a musical for Cinderella
• NHS from 2016-2017
• Chamber Choir 2016-2017
• Vice President, then President of Drama club from 2015-2017
Summer Workshops – For 6 years I attended a Performing Arts academy for youth, Stagedoor Manor in New York. Stagedoor helped me improve all of my skills by really focusing on the details and learning to create a Broadway quality production in only three weeks. Highlights include:
• Original Cast of Evil Dead the Musical High School Version as Cheryl
• Spamalot as The Knight who says Ni and the French Knight
• The Pajama Game as Mabel
• Sweet Charity as Frenchie
University Experience – I had a head start on my university experience with my high school dual enrolment classes that allowed me to graduate with a 3.62 GPA with a BA in Theater Arts in only 3 years. Highlights include:
• Directed and wrote the musical Halloween Party through Jukebox Collective
• Assistant Director for Peter Pan a Musical Adventure Through Chandler Center for the Arts “Kamp Kids”
• Directed Pawn Shop in University of Northern Colorado’s 24-Hour Theater Project
• Played Hortense in The Boyfriend the musical
• Ensemble in Catch Me if You Can through Little Theatre of the Rockies
• Ensemble in Rent at Scottsdale Community Players
• Marketing courses my senior year of college
• Working at Einstein’s Bagel Bros from 2019-2020
Published Works – My ten-minute one act Wingman was published through Samuel French’s Young Playwrights Inc in the book Dramafest 2016. Every year, Stagedoor Manor choses five ten-minute plays each session to work and publish in a comprehensive book at the end of the summer through a festival called Dramafest. I wrote Wingman for a class in high school for my Teacher Patrick McChesney and then decided to send it in and take a chance. It was the first play I wrote, and it was chosen. I had the chance to work with Director Chris Tyre who helped us edit our scripts and taught us how to stage shows in the Round.
Recent Activity – At my last internship, I worked as an Assistant Director for the show Peter Pan a Musical Adventure. I was assistant to both directors, as there were two casts. I had to take down the blocking for both shows and was able to direct scenes for each show. In this internship I learned how to call a two-act musical, how to work with children ranging from ages six to thirteen, learned how to be flexible and how to adapt to any situation I was put in.
References – Patrick McChesney, theater director at Marcos de Niza high school, was the first theatre director who believed in me and my talent. He taught me that I can dream big and make those dreams come true. Darin Shryock, currently the musical director at Mesa Community College, taught me how to hone my craft with singing, and really encouraged me in my formative high school years to be a better singer. Kimberly Soper, manager at Einsteins, took a chance on me and gave me my first job. She guided me through the foreign world of non-artistic jobs and encouraged all of us at Einstein’s to be our best selves.
