Teaching assistant for an introductory course to Principles of Public Policy. Responsibilities included maintaining communication between professor and students, good time management skills, creating assignments and grading them to match course content, and coordinating with other TAs, the professor, and other faculty members by running large group meetings. My focus was on environmental policies.
Mystic Aquarium, Mystic, CT

Beluga Whale and Pinniped Husbandry Intern. Prepared diets for 20+ animals each day, planned enrichment activities, observed and assisted in training sessions. Interacted with aquarium guests through small talks during sessions about marine mammals, training, and conservation. Completed a final research project and presentation for aquarium staff to assess the trends of regurgitations in a young harbor seal and propose techniques to alter the behavior.

Worked as an Undergraduate Student Assistant. Helped in the preparation for, collection of, and analysis of water samples from various locations in South Carolina. Close attention to detail and strict protocol had to be followed to ensure good quality and accurate results. This data was used to analyze the quality of water in different parts of Horry County, South Carolina.

Worked as an Animal Care Intern in the Small Mammal Department. Assisted with daily cleaning, caretaking, and animal husbandry tasks for a variety of species. A daily routine was followed to ensure all tasks were completed each day. My final project included researching and creating a child-friendly informational sign for a new animal that was coming.
Squalus Marine Mammal and Avian Department, Myrtle Beach, SC

Marine Mammal and Avian Care Intern at Pirate�s Voyage, a dinner and show facility in Myrtle Beach. Gained experience in animal caretaking, husbandry, and free contact training with two species of sea lions, ducks, and macaws. Learned basic principles of behavioral psychology and animal training techniques through literature and hands-on work. Required flexibility to fit the needs of the animals for training/shows as well as cooperating with a larger team of trainers, performers, and other interns.
