WORK EXPERIENCE:
Absolute Turning and Machine, Manufacturing and Quality Engineer July 2019 - Present
• Assist the Lead Engineer to Prepare the shop floor (Swiss-type CNC machines – primarily milling, turning, drilling and grinding) to manufacture the required components, mainly fasteners and turn parts for Aerospace Industry.
• Primarily tasked with tooling development, selecting the required fixtures and manage the overall Quality Control Plan for all steps in the manufacturing process from incoming material to shipping of finished goods.
• Prepare and implement Quality Inspection Instructions (which includes calibration of equipment, read and interpret mechanical drawings (Blueprints) and updating the job travelers, Production Part Approval Process, generate bills of materials (BOMs), etc.) specific to each work area and product type in the manufacturing (Machining) process.
Advanced Materials Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory, Research Assistant June 2018 – May 2019
Project: Waste Plastic Blends-based Filaments: Extrusion, Characterization, and Applications in 3D Printing (Product Development)
•City of Phoenix officials approached ASU to work on a project for sustainable recycling of plastic waste namely, LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene), PS (Polystyrene) and PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride)
•Studied the existing literature for a couple of months, assimilating all the available information, in order to design a suitable system to recycle the relevant plastic waste and also understand their applications.
•Designed a system consisting of copolymers to make LDPE, PS, and PVC compatible with each other, since they are not compatible in their natural states. The polymers were extruded in various compositions into composite filaments and the properties (like Tensile Strength, Strain and Modulus) were tested to arrive at the best composition.
• 3D CAD models of printable samples were designed in SolidWorks, which was used to 3D print (FDM) the filaments.
Hyundai Motor India Limited, In-Plant Trainee July 2012
• In-plant training of all the manufacturing processes undertaken in the Engine Shop during the production of Hyundai i10, with a primary focus on the Quality Control Process. Exposed to lean six sigma tools and quality control processes.
PROJECTS:
2D heat transfer analysis using FEM January 2018 – May 2018
• Analyzed temperature and heat flux fields for a ceramic housing with conductive and convective heat transfer.
• Created a program in MATLAB with a mesh generator to solve for various element types. Performed convergence and mesh refinement tests to validate the experimental design model. Simulated the results in ANSYS to verify.
3D printed plate design for custom load January 2018-May 2018
• Collaborated with 4 members to design a plate to yield less than 2mm with loads up to 220N. Simulated the load conditions in ANSYS to determine yield conditions and failure load.
• 3D printed the plate with Acrylic to test yield and failure with digital image correlation. Performed mesh refinement study to validate simulation results with experimental observations.
Designed and Fabricated a Solar and Pedal Power Generator January 2013 – May 2013
• Modified a bicycle, making it suitable to store both mechanical energy (by pedaling) and electrical energy (utilized a Photovoltaic panel) into a battery.
• Designed and made suitable modifications to a regular bicycle, such that it could withstand the weight of the alternator and solar panel without buckling. To accomplish the task, I developed a model in SolidWorks and analyzed its feasibility.
OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE:
National Service Scheme (NSS), Team Leader August 2011 – May 2013
• Responsible for brainstorming, strategizing, executing community service initiatives like community health awareness camps, teaching at destitute homes, blood donation and tree plantation drives.
