• Assisted engineers in building various surgical devices for force testing and design specification.
• Analyzed the bellows component of the 12mm Endopath Xcel trocar and performed preliminary leak tests for the trocar’s duckbill and seal.
• Used Instron machine to measure the force necessary to remove the bullet component of the 2mm trocar
• Conducted a study to evaluate the performance of the worst case out of round for the 12mm x150mm sleeve for 9 DOE cases. Testing was performed to determine if the dimensional inaccuracies lead to substandard leak rates.
• Conducted a study to estimate the minimum 5mm & 12mm bullet preload required preventing the Xcel Dilating tip blade from being exposed during assembly with the sleeve.
• Assisted in a study to define the notch feature design for the Xcel dilating tip knife shaft.

• Researched heart rate variability data for the anesthesiology department.
• Utilized the biological acquisition unit known as BIOPAC, to gain the EKG for pediatric patients before, during and after surgery.
• Used computer commands to manipulate heart data and determine the cause of fluctuation in heart rate for normal children and also selected adults.
• Analyzed the data collected and determined whether high or low frequency variable present were attributable to the varying components of the autonomic and central nervous system
• Performed lab work including chemical staining of mice and rabbit neurological brain tissue and also prepared chemical solutions.
• Assisted biology researcher in gathering data for a mice study observing the effects of brain damage on the mice action and response times.
