Arts & Nature Based Early Childhood Educator

Hello!

My name is Sylvette Frazier, and I am interested to apply for the Early Years POD Teacher position. I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 20 years in a variety roles and capacities, with children aged 3-8.

I have extensive experience working with children and families from a diverse social/cultural/economic background, as well as with children in inclusive settings and classrooms with various social/emotional and physical needs. I have worked in programs practicing a wide selection of philosophies such as: Play-Based, Academic, Constructivism, Inquiry-Based, Montessori, and High-Scope. I have worked with children with varying mobility capabilities and children that have been diagnosed within the ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). I have a Master’s degree in Early Childhood /Primary Education, and a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development. I currently hold a Program Director and Site Supervisor Credentials from the State of California Commission on Teaching Credentialing.

Currently, for the last 5 years, I have been an Independent Contractor implementing my own program “Art in Nature” from my art and nature-based business - Connecting Children to Art in Nature. I have had the pleasure to work with children and families from all over the world. The Art in Nature program is a multi-discipline curriculum that facilitates experiences for children to connect to the elements of art and principles of design featured in nature. In addition, I have been also an active substitute class-room teacher for the last several years, working with children ages 3-6 years of age.

Some of my recent professional accomplishments include learning about the IB PYP, leading to certification in teaching and learning during the Spring 2020; becoming a National Geographic Certified Educator, that enabled me to establish a schoolyard garden by the National Wildlife Federation as a Natural Habitat. I have also recently acquired a new professional teaching license as a Program Director with the State of California Teaching Commission where I can formally supervise children’s programs and campuses while also training staff and volunteers, as well as obtained T.E.S.O.L. certification ( teaching English to speakers of other languages).

I am interested to learn more about becoming a POD Teacher. I am happy to attach a few supporting documents for your viewing. I look forward to hearing back from you, and to schedule an interview.

Sincerely,

Sylvette C. Frazier, M.Ed.
