I have experience working with children starting at ages infant/ toddler to teenage years. I have worked at a day care for four years while I was purposing my degree in Art Education at Northern Illinois University. Teaching hybrid with k-6th grade students in the year of 2020 as well as all virtual learning for my high school students during the COVID-19 pandemic. I created up art classes during quarantine for children from ages eleven to seventeen, these lessons incorporated student’s own visual culture as the theme of the projects. I am very confident in my ability to work with children and young adults throughout my experiences working in daycare centers and in school settings.
Community involvement is an important part of my teaching philosophy; I believe that students do not stop learning when they are outside of the classroom. Involving the community into the art classroom creates a stronger atmosphere for students to learn and grow from.
