Analyzed plaque formation characteristics of HSV clinical isolates to understand the differences in their virulence

Summer 2009 – 2012
o Project: Development of assays to study HIV-1 and MTb co-infection
Determined the effect of co-infection of human macrophages by HIV-1 and MTb on each other’s replication using a cell culture model, and analyzed the gene expression profile of infected, uninfected and co-infected cultures using RNA-seq. Our results indicated that MTb infection induces several anti-viral human genes with a potential to inhibit HIV-1 infection.
