Experience

GUEST LECTURER(April 2019-PRESENT)

In April, I was a guest lecturer at Stanford University. I talked to a group of medical students interested in adolescent psychiatry about how to be better providers to trans patients.

RAINBOW BUREAU(MAY 2017-2018)

I am on the Rainbow Bureau, which is a panel of gender-expansive individuals that educates potential foster parents and schools. I help educate others so that they can support the LGBTQ youth in their lives. This experience has given me the opportunity to become a better listener.

LGBTQ YOUTH SPACE (FEBRUARY 2017-APRIL 2017)

At the LGBTQ Youth Space, I greeted LGBTQ visitors upon arrival. I answered the phone and connected with kids that used the center. I had the opportunity to see how each person was an individual and offered support when it was needed.

RAINBOW DAY CAMP(JULY 2018)

For two weeks in July 2018, I was a camp counselor for the Bay Area Rainbow Day Camp. Rainbow Day Camp provides a gender-inclusive environment where kids struggling with gender identity can experiment and make long-lasting connections with peers going through similar struggles.

LEADERSHIP(AUGUST 2017- PRESENT)

At Los Gatos High School I was active in the Leadership Program for my freshman and sophomore year. In my sophomore year, I was Kindness Commissioner. Kindness Commissioner is someone who plans events celebrating kind and supportive people in high school. The position Kindness Commissioner was created for me as I had already demonstrated what it means to be kind and supportive.

SHINING STARS(AUGUST 2009-PRESENT)

I have been volunteering with a program called Shining Stars at Calvary Church since I was in second grade. Shining Stars is a program that takes care of severely limited special needs children. This group provides respite for parents that have special needs children. By volunteering at Shining Stars for over 11 years my eyes have been opened to the struggles that disabled people face. Volunteering at Shining Stars has made me want to continue to reach out and help others.

ANTIQUES & INTERIORS (SUMMER OF 2017)

At Antiques & Interiors, I helped move and clean delicate furniture as well as preparing the store for customers.

SAFERIDES

Throughout my high school years I have participated in a program called SafeRides. SafeRides provides free, confidential, non-judgmental, safe rides home to high school students who find themselves in unsafe situations. This may include, youth who are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, whose companion is under the influence, or youth who no longer feel comfortable with the individuals they are with.
