Andrew Bosler Resume

I am writing to inquire about a summer internship in your dental lab and feel that my background would be a perfect fit. My future career goal after graduating from Texas Tech Lubbock is to work toward a DDS and become a dentist and possibly an oral surgeon. As part of my high schools Health Science Technology, I spent a year working with dentists and oral surgeons at the Texas A & M College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas where I learned how to fabricate crowns and make impressions. I have strong hand skills and am somewhat of a perfectionist which is a needed talent in making restorative appliances for the mouth.
Last summer, I participated in the Robert Johnson Wood Foundation Summer Health Profession Education Program (SHPEP) at the University of Iowa, School of Dentistry. While there, I learned much about the application process, as well as met with the dean of admissions on a few occasions. It was an exciting experience that really enhanced my already strong desire to become a dentist. I made teeth impression, built crowns, practiced making fillings, and talked extensively about oral restorations. All of which, provided an interesting and exciting look into future career opportunities.
Prior to my college experience, I spent three years in my high school Health Science Technology (HST) program. This program helped to hone my interest in dentistry as a career. I was selected to do clinical rotations during my junior year where I really enjoyed working in the Dental Lab under the guidance of Dr. Stephen Crane, D.D.S at Texas A &M College of Dentistry. During my senior year, I elected to attend a year-long dental rotation. During this program, I worked very closely with Dr. Crane and learned how to fix chipped teeth, do fillings, build crowns, and build molds. It was because of him that I decided delve deeper into the dental career field and explore options like Oral Surgery. Following this dental rotation, with his assistance I was able to get into the Oral Surgery department where I spent many hours shadowing oral surgeons and dentists. This provided me with clinical experience that showed me what a typical patient to doctor interaction looks like. This was something I found to be very exciting.
I will graduate from Texas Tech in May of 2020. I have been a Community Advisor in Stangel Hall for the last two semesters and hope to continue this position the rest of my time in Lubbock. I have also been a member of the Goin Band from Raiderland for three years. Between being a CA and an Eagle Scout (2016), I feel that I have strong leadership skills.
I believe that I would be an asset as your company since I already have some of the needed knowledge to success. This internship would provide me with the ideal opportunity to assist your organization while expanding my skills to aid me in getting into Dental school.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,

Barrett Andrew Bosler
