Hand Art Center, Stetson University, DeLand FL January 2017- present
Gallery Assistant
The Hand Art Center is located on Stetson University’s Campus and is free and open to the public; it holds approximately ten overlapping shows a year, with as many as three exhibits up at one time.
• Plan and organize the acquisition, storage, and exhibition of collections and related materials, including the selection of exhibition themes and designs, and develop or install exhibit materials.
• Develop and maintain an institution's registration, cataloging, and basic record-keeping systems, using computer databases.
• Design, organize, and conduct tours, workshops, and instructional or educational sessions to acquaint individuals with an institution's facilities and materials.
• Provide information and market events from the institution's holdings to other curators and the public.
• Create marketing materials such as posters and postcards to be distributed to the public and run social media page.
• Maintain the Center’s permanent collection and keep updated condition reports of pieces on loan.
• Ensure the Center meets all grant requirements and keeps in accordance with Stetson University morals and values.
• Gained knowledge of the theory and techniques required to compose, produce, and perform works of music, dance, visual arts, drama, and sculpture, as well as historical art knowledge.
• Install and uninstall many challenging and diverse exhibits of visiting artist over the years, and have worked under restricted time frames to turn shows around as quickly and carefully as possible.
• Ability to use critical thinking and come up with alternative conclusions or approaches to problems.
