Its critical that we provide our youth with the opportunities for creative growth through art. I am an art educator and proponent that art develops the basic work model that employers require of employees, the ability of individuals to initiate and process innovative ideas.

Through a choice-based art program, I see art enabling students ability to intuitively navigate the process of creative expression and critical response.
In the process of creating art, students generate ideas that can be expanded, improved and defined. Visual learners learn to perceive, interpret, and resolve.
These skills build a foundation that will drive careers of the future.

I am interested in applying for substitute teaching.

This past Spring, I retired from Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, Sandy Springs, GA. For the past 14 years I have taught middle and primarily high school at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School (MVPS). Fourteen years ago I started the visual arts program at MVPS. Prior to teaching at MVPS I was an Assistant Professor of Art teaching all levels of drawing, painting, photography and the director of the art travel abroad to Oaxaca, Mexico. My carrier has embraced many aspects all of which began after undergraduate school working for the U. S. Government teaching art in the inner-city, teaching students and teaching teachers on how art can be incorporated with academics.

I am interested in substitute teaching all levels and subjects including STEAM collaboration.
I look forward to talking with you concerning being a substitute Teacher.

Regards,

To Whom It May Concern,

Mr. Hank Kunath has been my colleague for just under two years now. Since I have come to know him, it has been clear that he is an outstanding teacher, artist, mentor and person. It is for these reasons that I do not hesitate to write this recommendation.

When I was a new faculty member, I quickly noticed the energy and ambiance around Hanks arts room. I was also taking notice of such a high volume of traffic during students free time. They were going in and out of his room during their own spare time to work and to speak with Hank. When I did not know him at first, I observed this and was taken aback by this phenomenon. So many students, whom I was teaching, raved about him as a teacher. When we finally had the chance to be introduced to one another, I quickly realized the reasons behind what I had observed. Hank is the most amicable, cheerful and loving person. He speaks about his students with such a glow that one would think that they were his own sons and daughters.

His magnetic personality is not his only asset. As a faculty member, he has assisted my students in multiple projects into which I incorporated art. For example, he provided a tutorial and guided my students through their watercolor paintings of a French landscape. He also assisted my other class sketch a Roman figure. Hank was so kind and flexible in the process, dedicating many class periods in the process. He was very involved and took his time to get into detail with individual students. In the process, I witnessed how much of a skilled and learned artist Hank was. More importantly, I took notice of his ability to impart this knowledge to my students so effectively.

It is with great pleasure and with the highest degree of sincerity that I am writing this recommendation for Mr. Hank Kunath. I greatly believe that he will be such an asset to whichever team he might join. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you might have any questions.

Sincerely,
Dr. Mark-Anthony Karantabias

To Whom It May Concern,

It is rarity to have a colleague as stellar as Hank, and although he an amazing artist in his own right, has years of experience, and master-level qualifications, those are not the reason I am writing.

Hank is the type of person who encircles students with warmth and understanding. I have seen him watch a 13-year-old who aimlessly walks around a class room during free-time and take the time to ask what he is interested in. No rushing not a hint of distraction evident, Hank makes every single human being near him feel heard, loved and supported. No one is unimportant in his eyes, and through the years, I have seen student (and faculty members) who were struggling, flourish under his support.

As a high collaborative faculty, we all notice how accessible and eager Hank is to work with any of us. Recently, my students and were working on a project to research and learn about villain and victims in world history The students were asked to create a legacy piece of art that addressed the humanity of the victims of historical villains. I mentioned this to Hank, and he immediately agreed to come and work with my class for two days. Not only were the art and statements intentional, interesting, and though-provoking, but my students could not stop raving about home much fun they had learning and working with Mr. Kunath.

Hank Kunath comes with my highest most sincere recommendation, I am happy to answer any questions or clarify, if needed. Where ever Hank ends up on the next leg of his journey, will be a place incredibly blessed.

Warm Regards,
Marie Graham
