Direct Behavior Interventionist

Job Description


A Direct Behavior Interventionist(DBI) provides direct in-home services to individuals diagnosed with Autism and other diagnoses under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).


Be familiar with each client's positive support plan and behavior intervention plan
Provide for the direct implementation of applied behavior analysis (ABA) interventions (i.e. DTT, PECS, NET, PRT, etc.) to children with special needs in a one on one setting

Address problematic behaviors in accordance with Positive Behavior Support techniques

Collect accurate data according to various forms of measurement (i.e. duration, frequency/rate, time sampling, etc.) for skill acquisition and problem behaviors on a daily basis

Utilize nonviolent crisis prevention intervention (CPI) approved procedures to de-escalate problem behaviors and ensure safety during crisis situations

Conduct weekly/biweekly debriefs with Clinical Supervisor

Timely submission of billing documents

Attend to other duties assigned and/or approved by the Clinical Supervisor and Program Director

Attend staff meetings and professional development meetings

Report any incidents and communication from parents to the Clinical Supervisor

Contact the Clinical Supervisor and family at least 24 hours prior to missing a session. The missed session must be rescheduled for another time during the same month

Follow ethical standards regarding behavioral modification

Be able to commute/travel to clients’ location. Services may take place in the student’s home, school, or within the community

Stand, sit twist, kneel, bend-over, crouch down, walk, & sit/play on the floor for extended periods of time as well as lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs without assistance from another adult

Maintain reliable transportation and current vehicle liability insurance


The work hours and days for the client is based on individual therapy sessions and are conducted on a one-to-one basis, according to the preauthorized hours per month by the funding agency. Each employee will work within their desired number of hours per week.
