Trestle Gallery internships are open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates, as well as anyone seriously interested in learning about behind the scenes activities of a contemporary, non-profit art gallery.

Internship to begin: week of 1/28
Hiring: 1-3 interns
Ideal for a working artist, the internship is in exchange for 24 hour access to our 4,000 sq foot shared artist studio, a storage rack and locker, access to free monthly critiques, a 10% discount on all workshops, and exhibition opportunities (http://www.trestlegallery.org/). Additionally, we can can provide credit with institutional credit programs.
Interns are expected to commit 10 hours per week (two days at 5 hours per day, 1:30-6:30pm) - M W and/or F for a minimum of 3 months. During this time interns work with Trestle Gallery & Trestle Art Space staff on a variety of projects in the gallery and office.
As a small non-profit, we are a tight-knit team and are inclusive when it comes to our interns, promoting participation in staff meetings and valuing creative problem solving, encouraging interns to speak up when they have a new idea, or any question/comment/concern. For this internship cycle, we will be hiring 1-3 interns with different focuses discriminante upon the intern's skill set.

For all internships - detail orientation, conscientiousness, innovative thinking, and a dedicated interest in the art world a must. Curiosity and the ability to ask questions is highly valued, as this is first and foremost an opportunity for the applicant to learn.
Gallery Intern - Duties & Qualifications
Common tasks include assisting in installing and de-installing artworks, patching/painting and general gallery maintenance, receiving artworks and coordinating their shipments and pick ups, and assisting at opening receptions. As well as general art admin assistance to our Gallery Director - developing exhibition checklists, distributing and collecting consignments. General handiness, comfort with tools and paint, previous art handling a plus.
Photo/Media & Web Intern -
Keeping our website up to date in regard to rotating exhibitions, artist opportunities, residencies, etc. Assisting Gallery Director & Graphics Manager in developing/maintaining branding. Assisting in management of Instagram and facebook. Photographing (& editing) opening receptions and events (having your own camera NOT required). Assisting in the creation of mailers.
Development/Fundraising Intern -
We are planning a big year for 2020 and are laying down the groundwork now! This position would assist in researching relevant funding opportunities for the gallery, beginning/collecting materials for the application processes, processing demographic information and maintaining our demo database, and sourcing sponsors for upcoming fundraisers.
