About the organization: Solar United Neighbors is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to creating a clean, equitable, resilient energy system that benefits everyone. We are building a clean energy movement by helping people go solar, join together, and fight for their energy rights.

On the regional level we run twelve state programs: DC, MD, VA, MN, CO, FL, TX, PA, OH, IN, WV, and AZ. Each state program promotes solar throughout its jurisdiction. The programs share three goals:

Develop and scale solar energy projects within communities,
Pass solar policies that expand the local solar market, and
Build a community of clean energy advocates that traverse traditional political fault lines.
At Solar United Neighbors, we believe that all of us have a stake in a future where every community participates in the financial benefits of our energy grid’s ongoing diversification from big central plants and passive consumers to a wider mix of distributed production & renewable energy.

Our organization is scaling rapidly and our office is a fast-paced multi-faceted environment, ideal for an intern who is looking to dive in and experience the workings of a dynamic and growing non-profit organization.

About the position: Solar United Neighbors seeks a Program Admin Intern to provide administrative support to our state programs and engagement program. Projects will primarily focus on data entry, preparing and sending resource packages, research and data collection, as well as event preparation. Additional projects may include assisting with outreach initiatives in person and digitally, updating our Everyaction and Salesforce online databases, listbuilding, and general administrative support. The intern must have strong skills researching and multi-tasking and should be very organized and detail oriented in their work. The intern should also be comfortable self-managing their efforts to work efficiently on short and long-term projects and have an upbeat attitude at all times with a willingness to work on a variety of high priority projects as identified by Solar United Neighbors. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive are preferred. The intern should have their own laptop computer to use during the internship.

This is an unpaid 20 - 40 hour per week internship intended for the spring semester of 2019 (Feb - May). The start and end date are flexible and would ideally align with an academic calendar. College-level interns may obtain college credit for this internship. Work hours can be flexible to meet the intern’s schedule. Our office is located at 1350 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington DC 20036. A travel stipend will be provided.
