Nature Camp Intern

Job Description:
The Rancocas Nature Center is looking for an enthusiastic Intern to work with our summer nature camp program. The Nature Camp Intern will work with Rancocas staff and volunteers and help facilitate environmental education programs. The candidate will gain valuable teaching experience and natural history knowledge while learning group management in an outdoor setting.

Major Responsibilities:
 Responsibilities may include crafts, activities, games, and daily set-up and breakdown of classrooms and outdoor educational areas
 Work in cooperation with the teacher naturalist and/or environmental educator and facilitate group management and safety
 Supervise children, organize free time activities, and manage after-camp care participants.
 Learn to develop age appropriate curriculum and implement daily lessons
 Help with care and maintenance of the resident animals, grounds, gardens, and trail system

 Good communication skills especially with children and young adults.
 A strong interest in the natural world
 Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to accept direction
 Strong computer and internet skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office
 Team player
 Punctual with effective time management and organizational skills
 Ability to be self-directed and work independently, as necessary

 Experience working with children and groups
 Majoring in education, science, environmental studies, natural resources or like field
 Ability to work outdoors and hike 2-4 miles
 Valid First Aid and CPR certification is required (training to be provided by RNC)
 Must have reliable transportation

Starting Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2019
Salary: Commensurate with experience
