Marketing Assistant Internship

Job Summary:

The Marketing Intern will gain knowledge by supporting the sales and marketing department with the production of high-quality art design, signage, social media management, and product brochure design amongst other marketing tasks. The Marketing Intern will work in different facets of marketing, design, and social media management as needed and will support TGU’s marketing and branding efforts during networking events and industry related tradeshows. This internship is designed with the sole purpose of allowing the marketing intern to gain marketing and business experience in a fast paced environment and to help The Ground Up implement new concepts and marketing vision. This position will report directly to the VP of Sales & Marketing and work under the supervision of TGU’s Marketing Specialist.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

*Support marketing initiatives including sales and promotions
*Support project based work assigned which may include researching and solving problems
*Assist in the creation of signage, circulars, mock ups, e-mail campaigns, on line promotion, etc.
*Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing materials
*Assist with fulfillment of marketing offers and execution of trade shows
*Assist with the preparation and delivery of training materials
*Perform analysis of marketing and sales data
*Maintain tracking report of public relations activity and social media campaigns
*Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales materials both on and offline
*Prepare presentations for sales and marketing team
*Update customer contact information in contact management systems
*Create and execute surveys
*Draft press releases about special events and product promotions
*Provide support to social media efforts
*Coordinate or assist with special events, tradeshows and community outreach any day of the week or weekend
*Assist all team members with clerical work, minor administrative tasks and business details
*Additional duties or projects as requested
*Travel outside geographic area < 10%


Essential Qualifications:

*HS diploma or GED
*Must be enrolled in a College or University pursuing a marketing degree
*Must be internet and computer savvy with extensive knowledge of Design Suite, Google Adwords, metawords, blogging, social media, tradeshow planning, and deploying successful mass email campaigns
*SEO and/or Graphic Design experience preferred
*Excellent organization skills and self-motivated to complete routine tasks
*Detail oriented, analytical, and customer focused
*Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Able to work well with others in a team environment or alone
*Able to work in a fast paced environment, with competing priorities under tight deadlines
*Able to multi-task with many interruptions throughout the day
*Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
*Availability to work some evenings for networking events
*Able to work nights or weekends as needed to attend/support sales and marketing events which may include traveling with overnight stays
*Must be flexible and able to work evening networking events


Desired Qualifications:

*Enrolled in college and pursuing a degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related field
*Bilingual in Spanish and English
*Some media buying experience
*Experience in the landscape supply industry is a big plus!
*SEO and/or Graphic Design experience preferred
