Our campaign is perfect for anyone especially students in high school and college who want to provide leadership and help redefine what public service is. Our campaign saying is "Always With The People", meaning if you are filled with the love, passion, and spirit to organize and fight for a better Detroit, a better Michigan, and a better World then this is the campaign for you. We stand for policies that will uplift every individual in our community.
Intern Responsibilities:
12-25 hours per week; hours are flexible
Opportunities to excel and take on leadership roles in various aspects of the campaign like field, communications, fundraising, and event planning
Grow your network by engaging with campaign staff, local politicians, and community leaders.
Learn how a grassroots service based campaign is run from the inside.. Learn from experts who've work in the field and aspire to serve
Letters of Recommendation will be given
A potential stipend at the end of the campaign

Candidate info:
Donavan McKinney is a 29 year old lifelong Detroiter. He was raised by his mother and grandmother who taught him the importance of community, leadership, and service. He is a proud product of Detroit Public Schools and a graduate of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, with a B.A. degree from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
Donavan is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He worships and serves as a trustee at Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ in Detroit. On Labor Day Weekend 2019, he married the love of his life Shaunt�, who is an attorney. In January of this year, the McKinney�s welcomed the newest addition to their family, a beautiful baby boy, Donavan II.
Currently, Donavan serves as the National Political Director for Climate Power, a national climate justice organization working with officials on the federal, state, and local levels to take immediate bold climate action.
Donavan is now running to be your next State Representative in Michigan�s new 14th District, representing parts of northeast Detroit, Warren, and the city of Center Line.
