The HOC internship is a tremendous opportunity to not only gain experience in the human services and social work field, but to walk the journey of recovery, transformation, and success with women that are leaving traumatizing situations. This internship will challenge you yet simultaneously leave you feeling satisfied and proud of the work and service that you will do with this incredible population. HOC Organization/Mission:
House of Cherith (HOC) exists to empower survivors to RECLAIM, RENEW and REKINDLE – to reclaim their dignity and self worth, to renew their faith in humanity and to rekindle their passion for a lifetime of success. Our focus is to serve the survivors struggling to recover from years, or even decades, of trauma they have endured. HOC offers short term and long term housing to deliver sustainable care and support services for the women they serve.

HOC Program Overview:
We offer four programs/houses at House of Cherith:
Safe House (residents stay for ~month)
Long Term House 1 & 2 (residents stay for 12-15 months)
Mommy and Me (residents with children stay for 12-15 months)
At HOC, we not only meet basic needs (sustenance and shelter), we also offer trauma-informed, holistic care services including (but not limited to): primary medical care, behavioral health, mental health, addiction counseling and relapse prevention, and case management. All of this is offered to our residents free of charge.

About the Internship:
Potential Duties:
Supporting the administrative team with various administrative duties
Aiding Case Managers with case management items
Assisting the Intake Coordinator with intake interviews
Shadowing Behavioral Health Specialists in sessions/groups
Identifying various resources (Transitional Homes, AA meetings, outpatient care, etc.)
Building curriculum for programming
Helping facilitate programming
Assisting Residential Services Associates (RSA) with residential duties

Internship Orientation/Training:
Interns will go through an orientation and training on their first day, comprised of:
Tour of campus
In-depth program overview, protocols, and expectations
Human Trafficking 101
Volunteer Training

Amount of client contact:
90%

Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm (this is flexible)

About the Intern:
Due to the nature of the position, we only accept female applicants 18 years or older. Previous experience with survivors of trafficking and exploitation is not required.
Other qualities we look for in HOC Interns:
Interns must treat all clients with passion, excellence, dignity and integrity
Interns must have strong listening and communication skills (oral and written)
Interns must present themselves in a professional manner at all times - attire, actions, attitude, words, resident and staff interaction, promptness, responsiveness, etc.
Interns must be flexible and independently motivated

Is on-campus housing available to interns?
Yes. If needed, interns are able to reside on campus. On-campus interns live in a communal, fully furnished room with access to TV and Wifi. The campus has 24/7 security on the property, as well as a weight room and basketball gym that will be made accessible to the interns, should they desire to utilize these spaces.
