Musicambia seeks a motivated, enthusiastic intern to assist Executive Director with all aspects of running a small, six-year-old non-profit. Musicambia brings music learning and ensemble performance to prisons throughout the United States.
Intern will assist Executive Director with program management, liaising with teaching artists and correctional facility administrators, grant research, grant-writing, donor correspondence, social media, special events and more. This is a great opportunity for a college student interested in hands-on experience and insight into non-profit management. Applicants should have a strong interest in criminal justice reform, music education and/or music therapy. 4-8 hours per week, a minimum 6-month commitment. Compensation will be based on qualifications.

Musicambia’s flagship program at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, New York is currently in its 6th season. We also have music programs at the Brooklyn Detention Complex, the Columbia Girls Secure Center, Allendale Correctional Institute (South Carolina), Putnamville Correctional (Indiana) and Pitchess Detention Center (Castaic, CA). We are also an alumni program that provides several paid performance opportunities in New York City for alumni from our programs.
At Sing Sing, we have a slowly expanding group of 32 men which includes students who started with us at our inception and others who joined in each of the seasons that followed. These students continue to produce astounding works of music of emotional and intellectual depth as well as develop their musical and instrumental skills in boundless ways. The administration at Sing Sing has reported a 100-person waitlist to join our program.
