PARADICE PALASE is seeking an enthusiastic intern for the Fall 2019 season to gain experience across all major components of our programming schedule. This includes exhibitions, workshops, retail and e-commerce R&D, and arts marketing. We are looking for mature undergraduate students or graduate students with an interest in learning about arts administration, curation & exhibition management, or online arts marketing and sales.

This opportunity is unpaid or unpaid with college credit. The right candidate will commit to 10 hours per week with some additional hours evenings and weekends for events, exhibitions, and programs. The intern will work alongside co-founders Lauren and Kat at their project space in Brooklyn. Additional projects can be completed remotely or independently off-site.

Founded in 2017 by artist Kat Ryals and curator Lauren Hirshfield, Paradice Palase is a curatorial project based in Bushwick, Brooklyn aimed at creating accessibility, public engagement, and visibility in the arts through exhibitions, programs, arts-forward retail items, and online content. We are dedicated to furthering the development of artists and building a symbiotic network of patrons and creators. We create accessibility and engagement in the arts by offering collaborative retail items with artists as well as through public programs and workshops. Artist Curated Cinema bi-weekly September - November (weekday TBD)
ArtBrewt Program in September (Wednesday night - TBD)
Group Exhibition opening September 27th & closing October 13th
Pop Up Group Exhibition October 18th - 20th
Art Fair October 3rd - 6th
Members Group Exhibition opening November 8th & closing November 17th
ArtBrewt Program in November (Wednesday night - TBD)
Prep for Art Fair (out of town) December 5th - 8th

Learning Opportunities:
Marketing
-Engaging with the marketing process from flyer and postcard creation to distribution
-Learning how to create social media, email, and other online marketing campaigns
-Navigating website and email campaign platforms such as Squarespace and Mailchimp
-Opportunities to conduct research and present on e-commerce and online art/shop sales
-Contribute blog posts

Admin / Curatorial
-Introduction to art handling, and best practices for installation and deinstallation
-Approaches to office administration basics and inventory management

Exhibition & Programs Related
-Interface with other galleries, members, local artists, and patrons for exhibitions and programs
-Engage with all aspects of gallery management and outreach for gallery activities
-Experience with event coordination and execution of programming

**A special project to be completed is an optional component for this internship, dependent on the intern’s specific area of interest and requirements for college credit. Examples could be additional research on a subject relating to audience engagement, accessibility, e-commerce, online marketing in the arts, alternative art spaces, etc. with a final executive summary report, creation of a mock exhibition, or development of a program or workshop.**

Intern Requirements:
-Current upperclassman undergraduate student or graduate student in fine art, art history, curatorial studies, arts marketing, or arts administration.
-College credit internships a plus
-a laptop & smartphone
-access to Adobe Photoshop
*Preferred:
-Proficiency in the following programs: Adobe Photoshop
-Experience in the following programs: Mailchimp, Google Drive & Gmail, Slack, Word, Excel, Squarespace, Facebook, Instagram, Square
-Knowledge of Facebook / Instagram business tools; Spanish proficiency

-Possibility for course credit and/or individualized research projects may be proposed and co-developed.
