Interior Design Intern
We are excited to welcome a new design intern to our interior design firm, ML Design Studio. This position will begin part-time. A successful intern will be offered full-time employment and increased opportunities as well as increased pay and benefits.
Primary Responsibilities: Our intern will have ever greater responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
Project site surveying, documentation of existing site conditions and onsite installation supervision/execution
Utilize computer software to create drawings, renderings, etc.
Communication with architectural firms, vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotes, specifications, and samples
Sourcing of decorative lighting, furnishings & fabrics and tracking of purchased furnishings & accessories
Assist with the creation of client presentations as well as the creation of project binders & maintaining them with updated content
Administrative tasks including filing, Design library and office/showroom organization, sample pick-ups and returns
Assist with book-keeping and client Billings
Degree from an accredited interior design or architectural program or close to graduation with two days minimum available to intern
Proficiency in Autocad, Sketchup, and Excel
Ability to organize and reference project details.
Ability to source design selections online, at Merchandise Mart and other vendors
Ideal Candidate Profile
Good communication skills, both written and oral.
Friendly and out-going in social contacts, work well in a professional environment, and is collaborative during the design process.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift focus rapidly from one priority to another based on client or office needs
A polished appearance
Physical Ability to lift and mobilize small to medium items
Licensed to drive and ability to travel locally or out of state as needed
Willingness to learn and be open for constructive feedback
