Interior Design Intern
Small but fast-growing design firm has a part-time, flexible opportunity for a design intern. We're looking for an energetic addition to our staff at our office in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA. Our business is about 90% residential and 10% commercial. Our ideal candidate: Flexible, solution oriented, self-motivated, able to stay on task and work independently without much supervision, proactive, organized, upbeat, positive attitude, and a desire to be a contributor to the success of our firm.
Work directly with principal designer in a collaborative environment
Assist in materials and furnishings selections
Occasionally pick up and deliver samples (or arrange courier) to showrooms and clients
Assist with client presentation materials
Assist with administrative and organizational work
Assist with sample library maintenance
Work with trade vendors as well as clients
Assist with marketing and social media
Experience or knowledge of interior design necessary
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite: In Design
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Fluency with Word and Excel
Work under immediate supervision; however, must also be able to work independently and proactively on projects without supervision
Must be very organized and efficient
Must be able to occasionally carry or move boxes or items weighing up to 25 lbs
Must have a laptop that you can bring to work when we are working remotely from client site or showroom locations
Preferred, But Not Required
Experience with a CAD based design or 3-D modeling software, Photoshop
Hours and Compensation
Compensation $11/hour. Hours are flexible and negotiable.
This may become a full-time opportunity for the right candidate. We're ideally looking at 16-25 hours per week and will also work around course schedules for students.
