The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is seeking a Development Intern to support the Development Department with their nationwide fundraising events, Miles for Melanoma and the MRF Gala. This position will be responsible for assisting the Development Officer with the Miles for Melanoma program through community outreach and engagement and the Events Manager with the logistics of the Miles for Melanoma and Gala events. This intern will report to the Development Officer, Miles for Melanoma and can be taken for class credit and/or employment experience.
Soliciting donations (giftcards, products, etc) from local vendors/businesses in the community
Assisting with community outreach of past event participants and new recruitment channels
Support Development Officer with Miles for Melanoma and Gala post-event stewardship to sponsors, vendors and top fundraisers
Collaborate with Development Officer on unique concepts for driving participation and event engagement
Assist Database Manager with post-event acknowledgements to various Miles for Melanoma and Gala donors
Assist with organizing and preparing all event materials for Miles for Melanoma, MRF Gala, and other programs as needed.
Create collateral relating to events such as: flyers, save the date, and award certificates.
Aid the Event Manager by conducting research of the event locations for: local partnership ideas, event vendors, future event locations etc
Support the Event Manager in securing vendors for events as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills including verbal, written and interpersonal communication
Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
Availability of 10-30 hours/week
Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business/Nonprofit Management or other related field
