Education Field Representative

Ara's Education Consulting, LLC partners with K-12 schools to make sure African American families feel welcomed, valued and empowered by partnering with teachers, administrators and staff on behalf of families of color.

We are looking for Education Field Representatives (EFR) to serve as liaisons to strengthen relationships between African American parents and staff for the 2021_22 school year. Parental engagement is fundamental to academic achievement, yet schools continue to struggle with engaging African American families. For this cause, Ara's Education Consulting, LLC was formed in July of 2019.

This is a paid internship opportunity and would be great for college social work students seeking a role in social justice or parents who are passionate about this work and have the availability to commit 11 hours per week at the designated school site. We are looking for three EFRs to serve two days a week for 5.5 hours per day. There will be a $5,000 stipend; $2500 will be paid out in December of 2021, $2500 will be paid out in June 2022.

The position details are as follows:

- Develop relationships with African American families and students.
- Serve as a conduit for African American families including relaying information from teachers to families and vice versa to make sure they are aware and included in pertinent information and to keep the communication channel open.
- Personally invite African American parents to school events and other opportunities to volunteer. If family is unavailable and the schedule allows, EFR may be asked to volunteer at said opportunity on behalf of the family and with family's consent.
- Initiate positive affirmations and updates to parents regarding student performance independent of academic progress.
- Develop student lunch groups as needed with students who may be interested. Some groups may be after school depending upon the site's needs.
- Will be required to meet with owner once a week to review case load and to develop a strategy for success. Meetings with owner and site administrator(s) may be required bi-weekly for continuity of service.
- Documentation of all actions are a must.
- African American applicants are preferred.

Please email your resume and/or questions to the above email address. Position is slated to begin in mid-late August/early September and will conclude in early June. Interns will be expected to fulfill the terms of the agreement. Uniforms are required and will be provided by Ara's Education Consulting, LLC.
