Development and Partnerships Intern

Purpose of the Position:
The Development and Partnerships Intern supports Generations For Peace Inc. in identifying and researching new partners, donors and fundraising strategies to fuel its global growth; summarizing and updating information on these potential partners in a database and in briefings; and recommending new partnership strategies for GFP in diverse priority contexts around the world, especially the United States. The position is an exciting opportunity to learn how a growing international organization develops strategic partnerships and raises support to sustain its operations around the world, and build practical research skills needed for success in the non-profit sector.
Responsibilities:
• Research, write and present research briefs that summarize key findings and strategy recommendations pertaining to potential partners, donors, fundraising, programming and thought leadership
• Identify, research and introduce GFP Inc. to prospective donors and partners, with an emphasis on the United States
• Update and maintain donor and partner databases based on research conducted, including data gathering and entry; cleaning, importing and organizing database files
• Support in the organization of meetings and events to generate thought leadership and/or funds
• Represent GFP Inc. at relevant meetings and events in Washington, DC
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Qualifications, Competences, Skills Required:
• Current student or recent graduate in a relevant discipline; Master’s-level students and/or applicants who receive university credit for the internship are preferred
• Excellent spoken and written English, and in particular top quality written English communications
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills, ability to handle multiple competing deadlines and priorities
• Experience drafting high quality communications in different formats
• Ability to conduct online research using search engines and databases
• Ability to organize and summarize text for various internal and external documents
• Excellent computer skills (documents, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, multi-media, calendars, email), and willingness to learn and use new software like Salesforce
• Cultural sensitivity and understanding of different interpretations of communications approaches in different global, regional, and local contexts
• Interest in global current affairs, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, and international development
• Proven ability to fit into a diverse, dynamic team as a team player, leader, mentor, and capacity-builder
• Preferred: Specific experience in fundraising and securing donor funds: i.e. grant monitoring, grant proposal writing
