The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in protecting Florida's water resources, is seeking a student intern in support of the Operations and Land Management Bureau. The successful candidate will learn to perform paraprofessional-technician work assisting the Land Data Analyst with business processes, document imaging, document management, and analysis of data from various applications used by the Operations and Land Management team.
The District's Student Internship Program is a year-round program. Therefore, this position is not strictly a summer internship position. Each semester, work schedules can be adjusted depending on the student's class schedule.
This position will learn and aid in the following functions:
Provides direct, technician support to staff in the Operations and Land Management Bureau regarding the business processes and projects.
Document imaging, ensuring quality in compliance with the requirements of Florida Administrative Code 1B26.
Uses computerized business systems, web-based data systems and other technology to complete work assignments.
Uses data management, collection and record filing systems to organize, store and retrieve information.
Accesses, reviews, compiles and analyzes multiple sources of data and information to generate appropriate criteria for reports and presentations.
Compiles data repositories from source materials; such as business records, quality-control or test records, time and attendance records or other data sources.
Compiles reports, charts or graphs that describe and interpret findings or aid in data analysis.
Participates in the publication of data or information to end users.
Processes and documents daily/routine business actions and requests according to established legal requirements and organizational policies and procedures; refers non-routine issues and problems to higher-level staff or supervisor.
Explains established procedures and practices in terms of customer needs and business results and goals.
Makes decisions according to standard operating procedures.
Successful Candidate Must
Be enrolled at least part-time in an accredited college, university or other recognized educational or vocational program.
Preferred Degrees: Business or Information Systems
Preferred Degree Level: Undergraduate
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students.
Provide a copy of official school transcript within 30 days of employment.
