Position Summary: Jirsa’s Internship Program provides relevant work experience for exceptional students in the construction field. Interns will have involvement in all phases of construction. Our program offers full-time and part-time positions at our East Dundee location during the regional construction season (spring, summer and fall). Part-time opportunities may be available throughout the year. Prospective individuals must be enrolled at an accredited institution.
Jirsa Construction is looking for detail-oriented, self-motivated individual(s) interested in furthering their construction management expertise while working with our Project Managers. In our professional workspace, individuals can be expected to learn from a variety of construction environments and personnel. Collaborative planning, excellent communication, and critical-thinking are imperative for successful completion of the Internship with the possibility of a full-time position after graduation.
As a member of Jirsa, interns can expect to allocate project resources appropriately, maintain subcontractor agreements and relationships, and to contribute positively to the workplace environment.
Time-Management: Must demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritize workplace responsibilities with team members. Must be punctual and readily available during work hours.
Communication: Must respond to emails, phone calls, and memorandums in a timely and professional manner.
Detail Orientation: Must be able to accurately and concisely perform duties including but not limited to writing proposals, weekly reports, and other related documentation.
Professionalism: Must act in an organized, professional manner in all work environments. Must interact respectfully with team members and adhere to corporate policies.
Computer Skills: Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) with working knowledge of project management software optional. Willingness to test and implement new technologies as they become available.
Other Skills: Must demonstrate ability to perform math functions associated with the construction industry including but not limited to: estimating, budgeting, etc.
Must be able to follow directions and perform additional, relevant duties not listed.
Successful completion of classes, or experience in construction management/ project management and ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic concepts.
Ability to think critically in a fast-moving environment.
