Our Company

Automat Solutions, Inc. develops a transformative approach to simplify advanced material Research and Development (R&D) and to accelerate Time to Market (TTM), with a current focus on battery material development.

The approach consists of a Materials AI Robotics-driven System (MARS) that is purposefully built for R&D, combining machine learning and robotic high-throughput automation. Promising to solve one of the biggest struggles of material innovation�lengthy TTM�it cuts the discovery time for new material solutions drastically by ten times.

The company�s vision is to employ an autonomous centralized facility with AI and Robotics as the foundation for material innovation, education, and commercialization.

About the Team

All core team members earned Doctoral degrees from directly relevant fields, with a combined multidisciplinary experience of tens of years with battery materials, high throughput platforms, machine learning and business development, respectively. Recently, we were awarded competitive grant from the National Science Foundation.

What to Expect

This position is 2023 summer internship.

Witness and contribute to materials innovation by taking advantage of cutting-edge machine learning and robotics. Currently, Automat Solutions is an early-stage startup. Gain entrepreneurial experience while earning the opportunity to shape company� future.

Work closely with a team, including the executives, to execute project tasks related to materials� discovery. This includes but is not limited to the following:

1. Establish high-throughput workflows on materials� preparation and characterization

2. Validate materials predicted by machine learning

3. Work with data

4. Manage projects from start to finish

5. Solve things from ordering pens to putting material products to market

Requirements

1. A BS, MS, or PhD student or graduate in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, or a similar field

2. Knowledge of relevant organic, polymer, inorganic, and composite materials

3. Knowledge of relevant materials� preparation methods and characterizations

4. Value on ownership, perfection, and perseverance

5. Knowledge of lithium battery materials and electrochemistry is a plus

6. Experience with semi-automated/automated equipment is a plus

7. Knowledge of machine learning methods or applications is a plus

8. Knowledge of database management is a plus

9. Hands-on experience, previous internships, and/or project experiences are preferred
