Membership Sales Manager

The Membership Manager is a full time position and is responsible for overseeing
membership marketing, sales and service for Maketory, an innovation hub, business incubator, and education community for builders, creators, and dreamers. Our open-access, membership-based workshop will provide a community where members can create direct-to-consumer products, micro-manufacture, fabricate, and learn using a variety of tools and resources such as: CNC (computer numeric controlled) machines, 3D printers, metal and wood shop equipment, computers/software, electronics, and hardware supplies. Our members will find themselves surrounded by a community of creatives, makers, entrepreneurs, and business owners in an enriching learning environment, allowing them to connect on real and personally meaningful projects whilst being supported and coached by helpful mentors with real-world expertise.

MAJOR DUTIES:
Recruitment and retention of Maketory community members (70%)
• Work with General Manager to develop a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy targeting all relevant market segments
• Lead membership sales efforts through direct solicitation, cold calling, open house events, new member promotions, and other specialized strategies designed to meet target market segments
• Coordinate and lead facility tours and follow-up with prospective members
• Develop and oversee implementation of retention strategies including plans for Member Appreciation Month, skill-based classes, and other engagement activities
• Serve as point of contact for corporate memberships
• Oversee the new member orientation process:
o Enter all membership applications into proprietary database
o Ensure appropriate app, safety, and facility training is completed
o Provide facility access devices, as necessary
• Oversee the membership termination process:
o Cancel memberships in database
o Collect facility access devices
o Ensure personal belongings removed from the facility

Oversee billing process and collection of memberships fees (20%)
• Review and confirm monthly billing schedule and payment of receipts
• Update any membership records as needed: change in payment method, contact information, membership type or status, annual renewals
• Pursue collections, as necessary

Develop and monitor effective reporting tools (10%)
• Provide detailed monthly membership statistics:
o Sales compared to goal by membership type
o Cancelations compared to expectation
o Retention rates
o Period over period results
• Identify and report on reasons for membership cancellations
• Create and implement membership climate/satisfaction surveys
• Develop other reporting as directed by Maketory General Manager

QUALIFICATIONS and Preferred Skills:
o Bachelor’s Degree in sales/marketing or equivalent work experience
o 1-2 years experience in sales (especially fitness or other membership sales environment) and a demonstrated record of success
o Superior written and oral communication skills
o Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as a team member
o Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), app-based interfaces, and other web-based reporting and tracking applications.
o Experience, interest, or understanding of the Maker community/movement or other similar affinity groups
