Front Desk Receptionist

Job Summary

We are a busy and rapidly growing ophthalmology practice with multiple locations in the southwest suburbs of Chicagoland seeking to expand our team with the addition of a Part-Time or Full-Time Front Desk Receptionist.
Our ideal front desk personnel is outgoing, enthusiastic, driven and ambitious. They must have a great understanding that they are the face of our practice, and play a very important role in our success. Patient care is our #1 priority at University Retina & Macula Associates P.C. They must be able to stay organized at all times, hold themselves to a higher standard, and strive to provide excellent customer service in any situation.

Must be available Monday, Thursday and Friday (opening or closing clinic).
Schedule changes may vary depending on doctor
Clinic hours (M-Th-Fri): 8 am - 2:45 pm
Attendance is very important
Candidate must arrive early to work at least 15-20 mins prior to opening clinic and is able to close late (no later than 5 pm)
Compensation is based upon experience. We offer great benefits to those who are eligible. Part-time position can lead to full-time opportunities. We are looking for someone that is going to be with us long-term and is willing to grow within our practice.

Front Desk Responsibilities:

Greet and welcome patients
Answering high volume phone calls
Scheduling appointments in electronic health records
Verifying insurances
Obtaining, entering & verifying demographics
Collecting co-payments and account balances
Balancing payments at the end of the day
Checking patients in and out of appointments
Requesting referrals and prior authorizations
Enrolling and checking benefit investigation for medications
Enrolling patients in patient portal
Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying and faxing
Following all OSHA/HIPAA regulations and guidelines
Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable
Opening and closing office
Requirements:
Great customer service skills
Knowledgeable to insurance plans (medicare, commercial and medicaid, etc.)
EMR/EHR knowledge (preferable eclinical works)
Medical Terminology is a plus
Detail orientated
Professionalism
At least 1 year in a medical office setting experience (preferable)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
