· Instruct through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more subjects such as English, mathematics, science and social studies.
· Teacher must employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory of each individual student.
· Prospect teacher should be able to plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
· Maintains accurate and complete student records, and prepares reports on children and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
· Works well with others, brainstorming and being organized are essential characteristics for this type of job.
· Dealing with parents, administration and other teachers requires a professional attitude and the ability to work under pressure. Experience is required with federal paperwork such as IEP, or Individualized Educational Plan, that outlines the necessary supports, accommodations, and goals for an individual child.
· Be able to work with children who can vary from mild to severe disabilities, using specialized techniques to help them reach their goals.
· Collaborate with other staff to help a child improve. This can include regular education, art, music, and physical education teachers, support staff, physical, occupational, speech, and behavioral therapists and administration.
· Responsible for doing record-keeping on a child’s progress, dealing with problem behaviors and serving as a source of information and support in IEP meetings.
· Bachelor degree in education
· State ESE Professional Certification
· Experience with children of the special needs community
· Must be able to work with ABA, OT, PT, & SLP as well as Leadership on a daily basis
