About the Position

The Grants and Communications Coordinator (GCC) is responsible for providing administrative support to the Grants and Communication Department including the administration and coordination of constituent stewardship. Under the supervision of the Grants and Communication Manager, the Grants and Communications Coordinator will maintain relationships with existing supporters, solicit new supporters, analyze and maintain marketing strategies, and support the implementation of fundraising initiatives for the organization. Strong written communication and project management skills are required.

Core Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Support the Grants and Communications department with administrative tasks as required for annual and major activities, partner events.
Contribute to department data collection, data entry, and restricted tracking and reporting.
Participate in stewardship activities including phone calls to clients, constituents, and donors.
Assist with solicitation campaigns within the department to advance initiatives.
Capture and document donor, client, and employee stories to be utilized in marketing.
Manage partner reporting in relation to impact stories; writing, design, and distribution.
Mentor staff on creative writing to assure impact story assignments meets organizational standards.
Coordinate with the Grants and Communication Manager to manage social media campaigns, website updates, etc. as it relates to donor stewardship, client and employee stories.
Coordinate website updates in alignment with the annual Development Plan and campaign needs.
Participate and occasionally coordinate special donor campaigns; specific needs, direct mail, pledge drives, annual asks, ongoing support.
Contribute to departments' marketing and communications plan; impact stories, strategic messaging internally and externally.
Contribute to the departments execution and management of the Academic and Sports Scholarship programs; includes all aspects to launching the campaign, application screening and scoring, committee support, award processing, and recognition event planning.
Mentor scholarship recipients through speaking at partner recognition/celebration events.
Represent LifeSTEPS at community events: Booth coordination, set-up, and presence.
Assist in informing potential contributors of special needs of the organization: encourage individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests.
May need to work some evenings and weekends in order to attend events.

Job Location: Sacramento, CA 95827 (Corporate office)
Education and/or Experience and/or License Certification:

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
One year of related experience and/or training.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree.
Experience working in a non-profit setting is preferred.
