La Cocina VA is a nonprofit organization that uses the power of food to generate socio-economic development in low-income communities.
We do this by providing culinary training and employment connections to our program participants. We work with vulnerable individuals from marginalized communities ages 18 and up.
We are currently looking for a culinary educator that can help us with our two core programs, the bilingual culinary training program and the food assistance program.
The ideal candidate must have formal culinary education and experience teaching culinary skills at a professional level for big groups of people of different ages and different levels of cooking skills simultaneously.
Additionally, the culinary educator must have outstanding communication skills in both, English and Spanish, must possess the ServSafe Proctor and Instructor license, food allergens management certification, and be able to work with a very diverse population.
The culinary educator will follow an already designed curriculum and lesson plans but can definitely adjust and adapt the lessons as he/she finds it convenient with prior approval of the program director.
