Director of Adventure Activities

This is a full-time, entry-level management position. The focus of this position will be the proper management and facilitation of adventure activities for our lodge based group program as well as summer youth adventure camp. This includes: rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, high challenge course, low challenge course, rappelling, canoeing, kayaking, and the zip line. The successful candidate should have a general working knowledge of these activities but not necessarily be a specialist in each. Essential duties will include the supervision of activity instructors, program scheduling, maintenance and record keeping of activity equipment, training of new and current staff, and ensuring ACA, AEE, and ACA compliance. As part of the management team, this position will be subject to non-normal work hours during - especially during our summer season - and may be required to perform ancillary administrative duties and general base camp work. In short, we function as a team to get the job done...sometimes that means taking on duties outside our specific job description.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of work in a related field such as Outdoor Education/Recreation or Adventure Center Guiding.
Supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
Demonstrable understanding of the technical requirements of adventure activities .
Ability to supervise, mentor and train developing employees.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to give and receive feedback.
Must pass a background screening and be cleared to work with youth.
