COMMUNICATION I have experience in communication in all aspects of my involvement. In my career as a scout, and with my roles in an educational setting, I have delivered addresses and speeches at 4 major events, and delivered my salutatorian address at my high school graduation. I am a capable speech writer and comfortable in front of crowds. During my summer seasonal position as a lifeguard, communication was a crucial skill, essential in ensuring that your coworkers and other emergency medical responders were aware of the full scope of any ongoing situation. These past experiences have made me confident in speaking and aware of the importance that communication has in the workplace.
LEADERSHIP My leadership skills were honed in the Boy Scouts. I was a scout for nearly 11 years. I obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. During this period I have held leadership roles such as Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, and Instructor. As an experienced scout, I was constantly looked to for answers by the younger scouts.
I led several major hiking expeditions and an overnight kayak trip during my time as Senior Patrol Leader.
I have also held several leadership roles in the classroom such as Class President, Vice-President, and Representative.
During my jobs as a kayak tour guide and with ASIS Surf Rescue, I held a position of authority, forcing me to be concise and direct with instructions and expectations.
As an RA, I had to lead many people, most reluctant to be led, as well as enact decisions and discipline when necessary.
