At Rowe Camps, we aim to empower youth, build community, and have fun. Camp provides an inclusive, safe environment where creative, and activist campers come to learn how to live in an affirming community. Through intentional activities, campers learn the skills and mindsets to discover who they are and how to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Camp staff will be provided the training and resources needed to create a safe and meaningful experience for a diverse community of young campers.

This includes:

Staff training around safety, first aid, childhood development, and conscious disciplining
-Leadership training through the Counselor in Training (CIT) program
-Inclusivity and diversity training
-Pre-camp bonding time for building strong relationships
-Competitive compensation plus bonuses for staffing multiple camps
-Scheduled time off to recharge and relax

Core Duties and Responsibilities:
-Sleep in the cabins during camp.
-Attend all scheduled staff meetings
-Attend virtual staff training in April as well as in-person Pre-Camp
-Work with CITs during JHC in management and well-being of campers
-Provide supervision on camp where programming is not happening
-Program both small group and all-camp activities with a variety of tones, structure, and purpose
-Be present and with campers whenever not running programming or planning
-Document safety and health incidents
-Take full time off and breaks
-Lead a group of campers in Kitchen Clean Up for a meal roughly every other day as well as in a weekly All Camp Clean Up
-Monitor and help facilitate camper emotional and physical well-being practices
-Provide evaluations at the end of camp sessions to support continuous quality improvement
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:
-Willing to grow and learn inside of a team
-Have interest and/or experience working with youth
-Commitment to safety and COVID rules
-Personable demeanor and ability to effectively represent Rowe to guests and the public
-Knowledge of Rowe Camp traditions and programs a plus
-Knowledge of how to work with LGBTQIA+ youth
-Interest in making decisions and creating programs that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion
-Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check.
